I’d love to know the news on MOTO XT882

As a non-Chinese living / working in China … I hate this awesome phone.

Until I could root it, that is.

FYI —- MULTIUPLOAD links to MEGAUPLOAD & MEGAUPLOAD is no longer a working website — any link posted there by shortfuse or anyone else will NOT work.

MEGAUPLOAD was seized by the FBI and the owners charged with several alleged crimes.

you will have to upload SUPERONECLICK to some other website that does NOT involve MEGAUPLOAD.

until then – it will be permanently unavailable.

Hey, I had same problem, but when you are editing the adb_usb thing in notepad, delete everything and replace it with this code: 0X1949 You might Have to restart your computer, but if not, just go to the one click and root and you should be good.

          Hello.
I edited the ini file as you said and ran superoneclick, now the problem is it reaches step#7 – “WaitForDevice” and the application itself freezes. :(

If you installed the HTC sync program make sure you close it and make sure that there are no adb.exe running by opening task manager i had that issue and once i close the htc sync and then ended the adb.exe task it worked perfect. I hope that helps.

I’m having the same issue if you find an answer id really appreshate it if you could help me out

            Guys,

when phone hangs on 7th step
            1. goto phone settings->applications->development->USB debugging oncheck it and recheck it again.
            2. now click root again.

Thats all, your phone will be rooted now, have fun.

          4. Jordi

You can’t uncheck the button while the USB cable is plugged.
If you unplug and plug the cable again you have to start the root and the step 7 is freezed again.

          5. Fred

I had the same issue, I realized it was my AVG Antivirus that was causing the problem at that step #7. Although I told AVG to ignore the threat, it would still block access to program. I disabled AVG and it worked.

Also, I had the issue of freezing after
            * daemon not running. starting it now on port 5037 *
            * daemon started successfully *
I changed my laptop-windows combination and solved the issue.

Did you download the phone drivers to your PC? Most computers will attempt this when you connect your phone, but if the servers are down you wont get the drivers. I have to try a couple times and it took a few hours. I also have a different phone Xperia Play R800x v2.3.3.

          Hope this help some.

I am having the same problem I even uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers but still gets stuck at step 7 I am running infuse 4g on gingerbread 2.3.6. I tried the unplug and then replug in but then the ONECLICK starts over. I let the program set for 3 hours just to see if it would get past step 7. Any help would be greatly apperciated

I had the same issue with the Atrix 2.3.4, it would stop responding at Step 6. Unplugging and toggle caused it to fail.

I realized then that I had not restarted my computer since I installed the USB drivers, restarted both phone and computer.
          Result = OK
Worked for me, just sharing. GL to you guys.

This was the only way to root my Samsung GT-I9000, firmware 2.2, froyo XWJPH, kernel 2.6.32.9 after upgrading it with Kies, without flashing it again with Odin. I tried 3 other ways before, none of them was working or stable. I will donate you during the next week, after reactivating my PayPal account.

    Having trouble rooting LG G2x.
I installed Gingerbread using the LG software update tool. Rebooted. Everything okay and working good.

Came to Shortfuse and downloaded and installed the LG Drivers and V2 of SuperOneClick. Enabled USB debuggging on G2x. Connected G2x to PC.

Ran SuperOneClick (As Administrator). Clicked the “Root” button. Went through several steps and got stuck at Step 5. Now SuperOneClick application is “Not Responding.”

I’ve done this a few times and it’s always the same. The phone appears to work fine and I just close SuperOneClick. So the phone is still usable, just not rooted.

    Anyone know what’s wrong?

Make and Model: Motorola XT300 (sold by Mobilicity as “Motorola Spice”)
    Firmware 2.1-update1
    Kernel version 2.6.29
    Build number SESLA_U3_01.7.1.0

SuperOneClick 2.1.0.0 worked smoothly in both rooting and un-rooting this phone, as long as I was careful around the USB settings, and toggled the USB debug off and on after Step #4 (otherwise it just hangs waiting for device). Also, as my host system is XP PRO SP3, I needed to log in as administrator; “run as” was not sufficient.

So why did I un-root? The thing is, while the root worked well, I could install and run Titanium Pro Root, etc., the phone – all aspects – ran real S – L – O – W – L – Y. The difference was profoundly painful, not subtle at all. I restored to Factory Setting, which retained the root but cleared everything else, to no avail. It was just too slow to keep so I un-rooted. It ran real well also, and the phone has returned to its original ways. BTW, I have two of these phones side-by-side, easy to compare them in terms of look and feel. I would have liked to get some quadrant benchmarks to do a quantitative comparison, but the program does not run on my phone rooted or not.

I find the talk about SuperOneClick | shortfuse.org all a bit meaningless. Political leaders and central banks round the planet have done everything they can to prop up failed financial institutions, and lending that was risky from the start. We will not have a proper sustainable recovery without an end to deficit spending and lots of banking institutions going bust. I find discussion about personal finance and loans a bit meaningless. I also think the house costs have to fall a lot even now. I mean why would you want to own a home in Spain or France? Isn’t it much more cost effective to rent? Regards, Annamaria Quale

    Just rooted U20i running 2.1 update 1.
Was a bit tricky, anybody else doing this, the best I found was to do a shell root first, then to run the full root while the device is just starting up (I think once started up it keeps seeming to try to reprompt to mount the device which may involve resetting the connection).

First of all, I want to thank you for all your hard work and SuperOneClick. A fine job sir. I’ve already rooted two LG Optimus V phones using it. Which is why I am particularly baffled as to why it is not working on the third. Shell Root, in fact, doesn’t even get passed the “get manufacturer” step:

    Getting manufacturer…
startIndex cannot be larger than length of string.
    Parameter name: startIndex

I’ve updated to SuperOneClick 2.1.1. I’ve uninstalled and re-installed the USB phone drivers. I’ve restarted the computer, the phone, etc… I’ve opened up a terminal and adb devices shows the device is there. Tried with SD card mounted, unmounted, removed.

I’m actually about to go over to my Ubuntu Installation and try doing the root manually from there, but nevertheless I am quite curious about what could be wrong.

Let me know if you have any ideas.

Again, thanks a ton for all your work. You rock!

Didn’t work on the Chinese clone A7272+ with Android 2.3.4. It gets stuck on step 6 (switching of USB debugging get’s it going again), but after step 7 it stops with an error/failed message. Tried Gingerbread on the phone as well and Z4root. Both didn’t work. I let Gingerbread run during the night and the phone had rebooted some time during the night, but wasn’t rooted. Z4root (1.1.0 and 1.3.0) only gave parse errors during installation.

I had the same problem re stuck on Step 6. To fix it try:
    1 – start SuperOneClick
2 – When it gets stuck unplug your phone, uncheck and then recheck usb debugging, then plug the phone back in again and it should proceed.

I upgraded my LG P990 from 2.2.2 to 2.3.4 (official update). Then I tried to root it with S1C 2.2 but the screen stops after Rooting Device #7. Is it failed to root P990?

It’s not asking you to restart the phone. It’s telling you that an internal process is being restarted.

I’m trying to root a Samsung Galaxy S SCH I500 running stock Gingerbread (2.3.5). SuperOneClick gets stuck on Step #7 where it says “WaitForDevice” under the ADB Command Type column… and from that point, SuperOneClick freezes and Windows says it is “not responding.” The only way to get out of that is to either quit SuperOneClick or to pull out the USB cable. Any help would be appreciated.

    Hi,
I downloaded Superoneclick (and removed the virus), and started it up.
However after I press root, and the program starts working, it freezes and becomes unresponsive after “starting server”

    Any suggestions?

Hi, I just bought the LG myTouch yesterday and I have been trying to root it all day. It has android 2.3.4 so I’m guessing that might be why superoneclick will not work. I have unmounted my SD card and usb debugging is on but the program always stops at step 7 saying its “waiting for device”. I have tried unplugging and plugging in again but no luck. What can I do?

y’ need to add on a root and unlock bootloader so that be easy for evesrybody
to use it in OK. don’t be stupid be SMART OK !

SuperOneClick is good for a root but NO Unlocker Bootloader ROM

I did do that for the Galaxy S II line. SuperOneClick did a patched kernel. I don’t like doing things that are “irreversible” in case somebody wants to return to stock. For example, a “fast oemunlock” will void your warranty.
Also, a lot of S-OFF modifications can’t be undone.

for everyone thats asking about rooting 2.3.4 or 2.3.5. it easy as to root once your on these versions of gingerbread. i think google removed the feature. I think the only way is to use a modded or custom rom version of 2.3.4 or 2.3.5 and it will already be rooted..

    Hello all,
I tried to root my android { Samsung Galaxy Infuse S2 -I997R } with operating system
    Gingerbread in it.
Everytime I try to run the SuperoneClick.exe it gives me ,
“The application failed to initialize properly (0xC0000135). Click on OK to terminate the application ” error.
    I tried the version 2.2 and 2.3 of Superoneclick on Windows XP Sp2 and Sp3 repectively. The following are the steps I am doing ;
    1.Enable the USB debugging mode
    2.Attach the phone using USB.
    3.Run Superoneclick.exe file
Could any one please throw some light on this issue and direct me in the right direction.
    Thanks and best regards.

Trying to root an LG Optimus Spirit at the moment. Gets to step 7 and just hangs. Tried re-plugging USB, tried toggle the debugging mode and it just seems to end. This is my log. Any help would be appreciated.

I have the same error messages (/dev/block/dm-…) at Step #7. Sprint HTC EVO 4G with Android 2.3.5, Build 4.67.651.3, hBoot 2.18.001. Mounted as disk drive, turned on USB debugging and killed HTC Sync and adb.exe before running SuperOneClick. I loaded the Android_WinUSB drivers instead of the HTC Sync drivers for root attempt with either Revolution or unrEVOked3.

z4Root hangs (and McAfee and my Android antivirus programs both identify the z4Root file as a trojan!), Revolution doesn’t work with this new an hBoot (looks like 2.16.001 is the newest they support)…did Sprint and/or HTC find a way to completely lock the bootstrap, so that none of the exploits work anymore? unrEVOked3 hangs with an error also.

One other thing I noticed trying all these methods to root my phone – when I try to get to the bootstrap/recovery (booting with the Power and Volume Down keys pressed), it only works if I power off, remove the battery for several seconds and then boot to recovery, which differs from anyone else’s phones in the tutorial/how to videos I watched. Is this a “feature” of the newer hBoot?

Hey! trying to use your software to root my Optimus Net running 2.3.4 and it keeps getting stuck on step 7..well…I think it is stuck. it says rush did it! then killing adb and restarting as root…thats all it says..I have tried using the other rooting option but that doesnt work as well. Any advice? I am 100% new to the android world too…

I found the cure! I had the same issue of getting stuck at step#5: Waiting for device. I did a battery pull and re-ran the Superoneclick and viola! It worked!

Seems to do nothing on my HTC Dream from Orange (I really HATE this phone, no tutorial I have ever used as ever worked.. and my attempts at making a goldcard always end in my sd card asking to be reformatted)..

I have the 1.86 update. I tried downgrading but I was told I could not during the install because it was an older version (DUH).

Im just really frustrated, I honestly didn’t expect this to work.. but I hoped. I even swore to make a donation if it worked.. but it just gets to the “starting ADB server” step and then does nothing until the program no longer reponds.

Is this phone just absolutely useless?

Hey so I tried rooting my samsung mesmerize with superoneclick. It got past the first “waiting for phone” and went all the way to rooting the device. Then it got stuck on the 7th step.. i think it is, the part where is says “waiting for phone” again. My phone was in debugging mode and the sd card was not mounted. I tried pulling the usb, turning degugging off, plugging back in, unplugging, turning debugging back on.. nothing seemed to work. The superoneclick I was running was in fact the 2.3.1 version and I did install my phone’s drivers. Just making you aware of this problem so you can give me some help on rooting my phone, but also improve this for the next update.

My phone: Samsung Mesmerize, Us Cellular, Running 2.3.1 Gingerbread/EH09

It’s been a while since I rooted my Mez with this tool, but I know it works. I do recall that it took a couple of tries, but it got there eventually. Do make sure you rebooted your computer after you installed the drivers. But if all else fails, just odin a rooted rom. See xda or rootzwiki if you need help.

what firmware where u running when u ran this successfully? And I was looking into Odin but I cant seem to figure it out. Im having trouble finding the .pit and pda files.. does odin root your phone? or does it just flash a custom rom? I was thinking I could flash my phone back to stock firmware somehow, then use this to root my device. do u think that will work? and where do i get the files?

Hi, I’m currently trying to re-root my Kindle Fire, I was able to do so before but when I try now it just freezes, do you know if Amazon released a patch that breaks superoneclick? I’ve tried both the version I used previously that worked, and the new version; 2.2 and 2.3.2 respectively.

Yes, Amazon’s Kindle Fire update 6.2.1 which updates in the background blocks rooting using SuperOneClick. It fails at step #7. I guess we are out of luck until someone comes out with a fix.

I know nothing about the Kindle Fire and it’s still pretty new, but unless they updated the bootloader, there should be a recovery mode of some kind. if you can find this mode which is usually powering on holding power+another button, it “could” be posssible to downgrade to the previous version so you can re-root and disable auto updates. But if the bootloader was updated and it closed the exploit, yep, you’re SOL until another exploit can be found. Good luck!

That’s why you always disable automatic updates… If any phone or tablet vendor wants to, their developers can kill your device easily by just having their own developers do the root, see how it was exploited, and patch the exploit. They in theory could even create a detection for it and deny your device access to Amazon resources or destroy it completely if desired (although highly unlikely) So if you root, ALWAYS disable any auto updates of the OS. Android handset vendors, Galaxy tablets, as well as other generic tablet makers probably don’t care, but vendors like Amazon and Apple have good reason to re-secure their ROM’s. Apple has been fighting jailbreakers for years and are getting close to being able to keep people from jailbreaking for good who don’t already have devices because they stopped signing iOS updates for anything except the latest version. So unless you take protective measures now like disabling auto upgrading on Kindle, and on iOS devices, backing up your SHSH files so you can downgrade later, or upgrade to a specific version when a jailbreak for iPad2 and iPhone4S is released, then as soon as the jailbreak comes out, they will release a patched iOS and stop signing any upgrade to older versions. So anyone who didn’t plan ahead is SOL for good unless a new jailbreak is released, and no one will be able to just go out and buy a jailbreakable device because it will either already have the patched firmware or it will be on an older version and you won’t be able to upgrade to anythng except the latest (and patched) iOS. This is a major move by Apple and it will greatly limit newbies from just getting a device and jailbreaking it. So if your root was killed by an update, I don’t know how Kindle does it, but if you are able to downgrade somehow, you should be able to re-root and disable auto updating so it doesn’t just update and remove your root again.

If ROOT fails, then try SHELL ROOT. I had to do it that way on my Ascend II from Cricket running 2.3.5 (Muve music update) If you don’t already have it, install SUPERUSER (ChainsDD) from the Android Market. You also may or may not need the following. ROOT EXPLORER (by Speed Software via the Android Market)
ES FILE EXPLORER and/or ES TASK MANAGER. (ESTRONGS Inc. via the Android Market)

I was getting frustrated reading that everyone one else has been able to root their devices and even started disbelieving the success everyone was having. I also started doubting my ability to read and follow simple instructions. Almost ready to give up trying to root the Kindle Fire; and thought I would give my ASUS TF101 a go. This failed on the first attempt …. then I tried my Samsung Galaxy S phone; and this worked straight away. So the process does work and the instructions are ‘accurate’. The problem with stopping at Step 7 was starting to annoy me, until I read ‘terriblebanter’s’ post above. Now I will start looking for a patch to revert the Kindle back from 6.2.1 and hopefully complete the job.

Well done to shortfuse for the program. Donation on the way.

FYI —- MEGAUPLOAD is no longer a working website — any link posted there by shortfuse or anyone else will NOT work.

MEGAUPLOAD was seized by the FBI and the owners charged with several alleged crimes.

you will have to upload SUPERONECLICK to some other website.

until then – it will be permanently unavailable.

everyone is posting the same problem.. as a rooter yes oneclick works on older phones with froyo … your carrier have added a code to the kernel and patched the exploit.. until there is a superoneclick work around.. if the coders are working on it. we’ll just have to wait. but there are other workarounds but you may have the chance to brick your device..

Okay. I have rooted and unrooted multiple times. It is claimed to be “rooted” but there is no access to anything. I did reboot my phone and the superuser app is installed. When I select the superuser app nothing shows up for the apps or log. It says “no apps in list” and “no log information…….showing 0 entries” Is my phone rooted? Did I do something wrong? Or does this not work for my phone? I have a sidekick 4g 2.2.1 Please respond ):

Hello, started the program (v2.3.3) with Admin rights and clicking “Root”, the program hangs at the very beginning:
1st message: “Killing ADB Server…” with time 1.10s
2nd message: “Starting ADB Server…” with time 4.22s and result “deamon not running. Starting it now at port 5037″ and “deamon started successfully”
That’s all. Then the program hangs and I have to kill the program as well as ads.exe.

I’m using Windows 7 x64 and would like to root the Medion Lifetab (P9514).

I just have to thank you guys for such an heroic piece of work. After days of watching youtube vids with ‘instructions’ on how to root my phone, reading hundreds, maybe thousands, of written ‘instructions’ and ‘advice’ on the same topic, I had just about reached the point where I would give up what was fast becoming a fruitless search for a method of being able to make a ‘proper’ backup of my phone, and then I found you!
Downloaded the software and installed it on the W7 laptop we keep downstairs, set the USB debugging mode on the phone and unmounted the SD card. I’d backed up everything I could beforehand using Samsung KIES, but at this point I was still a bit nervous…..
Connected phone to PC, opened your software, took a deep breath and clicked the ‘Root’ button. After just a few minutes it had found my phone, model, status and so forth and proceeded to work its magic. When it finished, there it was: my Samsung Galaxy S II fully rooted; I remounted the SD card and rebooted it just to be on the safe side and am now a really happy bunny (as the saying goes). It’s currently backing up all the stuff which I couldn’t access without root access via some great software found on the Android market.
I just have to express my deepest thanks for such a brilliant job; I have spent a very long life working with technology and this exercise was one of the easiest and most pain-free that I’ve ever had to do. Thank you SO much!!

    Samsung Vibrant with stock 2.2

Tried latest version of SuperOneClick. Kept getting message that device was rooted after test, even though trying to access root on device failed. Looking at log on SuperOneClick, several lines said not enough space on device, so I cleaned up the phone a bit more, until there was nothing left to remove, leaving me with 1.33 G of application storage space. Ran SuperOneClick again, and did not get the space message, but still will not root properly. Using Root Explorer, I can now see all files as if the phone is rooted, but do not have r/w access to delete files, only r/o. Toggle button to turn on r/w is greyed out and will not let me click on it. Also, an app from Market that supposedly tests for root keeps saying device not properly rooted. Phone has been rebooted several times during the process as well…

Please any additional instructions, advice, help, would be appreciated.

    1. Download an insecure kernel from either Chainfire or Odia’s thread. Any version will do so just grab the newest one, it doesn’t need to match your current kernel version.

    2. Download the stock kernel to match your firmware from below

    3. Extract both kernels and remember where you’ve extracted them.

    4. Download SuperOneClick V. 1.9.5. I know there are newer versions but just do what I say.

    5. Make sure that your device is in USB debugging mode: Settings -> Applications -> Development -> USB debugging.

    6. Put your device into download mode. To do so: Turn the device off, then power it on again by pressing and holding VolumeDown + Home + Power simultaneously.

    7. Start ODIN. Wait for whatever drivers need to load and for the ID:Com section to turn yellow

    8. Click on the PDA section and select the insecure kernel you extracted above. Make sure only Auto Reboot and F.Reset Time is ticked in the options

    9. Click on start

    10. Wait for it to reboot and then close Odin

    11. Start SuperOneClick and don’t change anything on the screen. I hope you didn’t remove the USB cable but if you did just reconnect it

    12. Hit root

    13. Allow it to install everything it prompts you to, i.e. SU, BusyBox

    14. When it’s done just shutdown your phone and remove the USB cable

    15. Put it into download mode

    16. Start Odin and hit the PDA section and select the stock kernel you downloaded and extracted earlier that matches your firmware version.

    17. Connect the USB cable and wait for the ID:Com box to turn yellow.Make sure only Auto Reboot and F.Reset Time is ticked in the options

    18. Press start. Let it flash the stock kernel and reboot

    19. You’re now rooted.

Mea culpa, SOC works fine. My phone came with 2.3.6 out of the box, so I didn’t know I have to install the ‘root_boot_dload/update.app’ from the official firmware 2.3.6 update. After I have done that, SOC worked just fine for my Huawei Honor.

Looks like everyone that have Gingerbread 2.3.x is out of luck with this.

SuperOneClick will not work if you update your phone beyond Froyo.

Sad but true….and just only a few will work BUT below the 2.3.3

Don’t bother in as for help if you know you don’t will have any support if you update your phones to the latest OS.

Just like Apple and the iOS/Jailbreak…..

I’ve also been having a problem with SuperOneClick hanging at step 7. Worked fine prior to update 2.3.6 on my SG2.

works fine with SGS2 on KI4 fw, although it does take quite a long time and stops responding for a while..
noticed some lag after using it, but a reboot seems to have fixed it.
thanks for your hard work.. :)

After I download SuperOneClick everything’s separate and not in one package and the program doesn’t work, do I have to put everything in a single folder?

Hey dude….how about removing those lame ass “download” and “download now” buttons. Also, as I wait for this shit to download at 56k modem speeds, I thought I would let you know how shitty of an experience this is. Even if your software works, it would barely make dealing with this fiasco of a website worth it. Is it really worth the few pennies a month for all that popup window bullshit and scammy download buttons?
