Yeah, yeah. I know, I keep saying I’ve fixed it, but this time I’ve attached proof.
If you use GingerBreak, make sure you have a microSD inserted if possible. Also, make sure your removable storage isn’t mounted.

Still getting stuck on step 6.
I turn on debugging
I plug my phone in
I don’t activate usb mass storage mode
i open superoneclick 2.1.1.
i click root.
stuck on step 6.
Am I missing something?
phone: LG-P999 (t-mobile g2x)
version: 41fdc8a2
(currently running android 2.3.3)
Never been rooted before.
Oh and I’m running Windows 7 64 bit.
Ok I disabled USB debugging mode on my phone after it got stuck on step 6 and when I reactivated it, it seemed to continue
but now it’s stuck on:
“remounting /system with read-write access”
disabling usb debugging won’t help. how long did you wait? mine takes about 28-32 seconds. Also, are you sure you put a microSD card inside? does your phone start notifying “usb storage unmounted”?
I waited a few minutes. Yeah my phone has an 8gb micro sd card inside. I don’t see anything about “usb storage unmounted”
When I plug my phone into the PC, it asks if I want to enable “USB Mass Storage Mode” and I don’t press ok because I assume that will mount the sd card.
this is what comes up.

should I be clicking “turn on usb storage” before rooting?
Wow, this was the last POST by ShortBus, Though many are upset (and rightfully so), we really have no idea what has happened to ShortBus. So with that being said, ShortBus, If you just gave up and decided you were just done with this program, then you know that was wrong…
But God forbid, Something has happened to ShortBus, I want to also say, that, you were very helpful in many ways to many people, which shows you wer a heck of a unselfish person, so “Thank You” and Good Luck,,,

You might have to disable the virus protection on your computer as it may detect SuperOneClick or the specific exploit as a virus and blocks the access to it.
After disabling it during the rooting process it worked for me.

wow! dunno, how or why, but it worked just fine on my SGS GT-I9000, GINGERBREAD.XWJVH!.. x))) thanks a lot man! ))))))
Can you descripe how you dit it?
he’s a troll :/
how did you get it to work man
Actually it worked like magic for me. All I did was: downloaded SuperOneClick v2.1.1, updated it (it found some “missing” files like Odin, etc), set Debugging on, dismounted the SD card, left Exploit on Auto & clicked Root. NO GLITCHES, NO HICCUPS – worked as a charm. x)))
How long did you had to wait?
It was done just in few minutes. First it said that it found an exploit for me and asked if I’m willing to use it. Then it opened Odin, where I carefully checked all the boxes and options before hitting start (but basically you don’t have to select or choose anything there because it’s all ready for noobs). Next Odin was working, the phone gone into update mode and restarted. As was said somewhere on this forum – I didn’t touch anything at that time. DONE! I was so happy I didn’t know what to do next with my SGS. =P
BTW: I’ve tried SuperOneClick v2beta some days before that and it got stuck as it did/does for some here on step 4-6. Always had to force close it on my laptop and manually kill all the services. Yet, to my surprise, SuperOneClick v2.1.1 did work it’s magic.

Motorola Droid 3 (2.3.4)
Makes it to step #7, then cannot gain read/write privileges and then fails.
(note: to get to step #7, you must go into Applications, then select Development, turn off USB debugging, then turn it back on. This will allow #7 to proceed.)
Gaining read/write access is the point of rooting…so the fact that it says it cannot gain read/write privileges on step #7 is rather bizarre.
Here’s the last step in the log:
Rooting device… – Step #7
OK 9.04s
Remounting /system with read-write access…

FAILED
“Operation not permitted” is rather cryptic.
All in all, thanks ShortFuse – your work is appreciated. Many folks sound like they’re complaining…but I think they’re just frustrated and don’t have the patience to sort out technical issues and search for a solution. Most of us don’t have the skill set, nor the time to invest in this endeavor. We know your time is valuable and you do this out of the kindness of your heart. Thanks again.
I’ll donate if it works for me!
Maybe the issue might be the Droid 3…dual core processor, Verizon-locked bootloader, and who knows what else.

Try an older version “SuperOneClickv1.7″ it worked for me
With the newest Ver it just failed to root
And dont forget to RESTART the phone before try check if its rooted
Lg optimus 3D
samsung galaxy ace. unmount sd card but not remove it, plug usb, launch root, stuck on step 6, untoggle usb debugging, goto step 7, toggle usb debugging, then step 7 fails remounting.

I have previously rooted my G2 using Visionary, do I need to reverse everything that was done to use this method?
Basically, all I accomplished with Visionary was killing the possibility of getting updates.
For those of you stuck on step 6 with an S2 – this is what I did. Sort of a “what have I got to lose” scenario. Wait a minute or so. Pull out the USB cable from the phone and the software continues. Plug it back in quick though so it can continue with Step 7.
Mine completed after that. Hope it works for you.
My phone is Galaxy S Plus i9001.

Thanks.
Hi,
Can i use this software for rooting Sony Ericsson Xperia Mini pro….
Found a work -around. Rooted my optimus t with V20G 2.3.3 on it. Follow instruction on posted thread link, and when you run soc again you might get stuck at step 6 or so, quickly disable usb debugg then re-enable it again. It will take you all the way!

Hey,
I don’t know shit about rooting phones, but I just got an Android LG Optimus m from MetroPCS and I was wondering if I could root it with this method. I’ve already installed the USB drivers and the latest version of SuperOneClick, but it does not work. What do I do?

The file “GingerBreak” is detected by my McAfee Anti-virus as “Linux/Exploit-Lotoor”, Trojan. Same problem in both V.2.1.1 and 2.1 versions.
Something’s wrong?
Thanks!
Took a couple of tries on the Optimus V. Finally worked. I *did* have to disable usb debugging, then re-enable it during the step where it says it is waiting on the phone. I also took the suggestion of rebooting my phone after a few failed attempts.
yeah, i dont think that it needs to be said but it aint working! tried gingerbreak by itself and it didnt work. so thought id try super one click. motorola is giving it to us dry! keep trying guys!
i guess i will just have to install the gingerbreak apk and risk my phone getting formatted. sucks when you dont have a micro sd card or working superoneclick program

can sombody help!!!!
Hi Thanks for ur great app, i’ve successfully rooted froyo. Bt when i upgrade it to gingerbread, it fails as many ‘ve said in this forum. Also im getting the error like ‘No Gingerbreak’ in exploit folder.. Whether gingerbreak exploit is with the app pack. In the picture u’ve put here, u’ve got gingerbreak in exploit field, bt mine is still ‘Auto’ in that field. Is that the absence of Gingerbreak in the exploit folder causes the problem?
Sorry if this is a basic question, bt im a starter in rooting. Just help with me.
The Oct 1, 2011 OTA update 4.5.605.mb810 from Verizon on my Droid X Andriod version 2.3.3 took away my root and now all programs that require root, such as Titanium backup will not work. I need to re-root my phone.
I was hoping that SuperOneClick 2.1.1 would work, but it stops on 5.
Can you help? Thanks

If Sprint is willing to aatcvite a BlackBerry device on a BlackBerry BIS plan, when they indicated they wouldn’t, that’s absolutely newsworthy.Sprint has yet to answer why they were unable to keep their promise to certain legacy customers, SERO and others, that future smartphones would continue to work on their plans.Considering that Sprint does allow business-liable customers to continue using the Curve 8530 with their legacy/grandfathered plans, it is clearly anti-consumer behavior aimed at raising the cost on consumers (but not businesses) with future devices. Of course we’re going to report every angle of that story.

SuperOneClick 2.1.1 (not responding) – unlocked Dell Streak 5 Android 2.2.2
I wanted to ROOT my Dell streak 5 and I have seen other do this root process in under 1 minute, but not for me…
I’m using an unlocked Dell Streak 5 Android 2.2.2 and SuperOneClick 2.1.1 But all I keep getting within 8 seconds of clicking on the ROOT button is the program freezing and stating (not responding) in the top left next to its name.
I am running it on my laptop win7 64bit (usb 2.0 connected) which is the only computer I have. I saw where 1 person said that may be the problem and when he went to a 32bit win7 version, it worked. If this is the case could you please fix the O/S problem with this software to work with the win7 64bit O/S.
I did a web search on the win7 64 bit issue and found this XDA forum post, but I tried a few of those things, but still same results: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=803682

I placed a video on this problem on YouTube here;
still doing my YT video upload, will edit later..
BUT, this guy with other also have this same issue i n his video here;
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uJFJ5TfruAg
could we please get some help on this issue with the latest version of SuperOneClick 2.1.1
I watched another YT video where the guy said he was using SuperOneClick 2.1.8 – but I’ve looked everywhere and I cannot find any version higher than SuperOneClick 2.1.1
thanks

Hi, I wanted to know if SuperOneClick is open-sourced.
Actually I heard it works with my device (HCL ME X1) so wanted to understand what it does before using it.

for those of you who got stuck at step 6, use this link:
if it displays captcha, just fill in and hit ‘request access’.
the first method works. it *will* get stuck at step 6, simply turn of the usb debug mode, wait for it to get stuck at step 7, then turn on the usb debug mode (no need to remove your device from usb port. you can leave it connected.) It might ask a few questions, answer yes! And you are done!

for most you guys above who have problems with rooting your phone stoped at the process #whatever, there is one thing you guys can try. I try it my own and it works perfectly fine. try a different version of the superoneclick. at the beginning I tried the newest version, freeze at step 7. try it three times, still happen the same. then I turn off my phone and removed the sd card, download an older version of the superoneclick. turn the phone back on again and try to root it again. it get my phone rooted in less then 1 minutes. version 2.2 doesn’t work then try the version 2.1.1. it works on my

It wont unzip they ginger bread file
does this work for firmware 2.2.1 running froyo im new to rooting
Have a Droid 2 v2.3.3 SuperOneClick v2.1.1 hangs at step 7 does not give me a fail or anything, just hangs. I let it sit all night and came back to find that the program was still trying to finish step 7. I’ve tried Z4 root and Gingerbreak as well. Gingerbreak also hangs and Z4 root gives me the error “The application z4root (process com.z4mod.z4root) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again.” I’ve already restored the phone to factory settings with no luck. I’m going to try some of the other fixes like downloading an older version of SuperOneClick and reseating the USB. Also going to check into Odin. I am by no means a Linux guru, and though I’m enjoying picking it up, I could use a little help here. Thanks!!
Im using samsung galaxy s plus with 2.3.3 and keep getting stuck at step 5.Anybdy please help me!!!

I have an OSX Lion though…. most forums I even asked about how to do this on a Mac replied with “Why would you own a mac and use anything other than an iPhone?” And my reply was, PC last less than 1 year with me and Macs last 5 years…. plus Android Smartphones have deals with companies while iPhones cost as much as my recent macbook air, which I get the cheapest and upgrade myself as a rule….
the manual instructions made no sense to me…
I have the same problem as the rest. I sticks at step #7 no response what so ever.

I do not believe I would ever be able to keep up with maintaining a site like yours!
Splendid work, I just would like to see you keep going.
so i also run SuperOneClick for my Motorola XT311, it ”forcely instaled drivers” runned everything ’till step 5 where it just stopped working, program is not responding, but on the right part it says that it done all successfully and is restarting my phone with root, killing ABD and restarting with root, enjoy…the phone doesn’t react but it said that SD is ready for removal..
