Some finishing touches and GVoice Syncing

Okay, so I’ve decided to make some finishing touches for the beta. I’ve incorporated Google Voice syncing on incoming and outgoing texts. I just need to play around with how long it takes because it’s slowing down my stuff. It’s working, just a bit slow. Also, I need to play around the “Mark as Read” to better support old messages GVoice messaging when they’re imported.

I need to finish Google Voice syncing for the workaround if you have the Google Voice app installed.

Edit: Mark as Read is done. Syncs properly with Google Voice.

I honestly thought that Services run on a completely different thread than your UI. Apparently they don’t. Well, time to rewrite some code…

I don’t know if I’ve ever been more excited for an app. I’m a little ashamed by how often I check your site to see if there is an update. ;)

Thanks for all the work you’re putting into this. I didn’t even know what SuperOneClick was before now because I didn’t convert to Android until 6-8 months ago, but I became a fan because of your posts. You obviously know what you’re doing and always address the minor issues that many devs don’t bother with, so I’m really looking forward to your release!

I don’t even use Google Voice at all except for voicemails, but I’ll use your app for the SMS alone. Stock and CM messaging is okay, but it’s not as slick as some of the newer Android apps I’ve grown to love (such as Reddit Flow, Press, etc).

I don’t know what your future plans are, but if you ever decided to integrate Facebook messages as well (or others like GroupMe), that would be awesome as well :) .

Also, what is a good place to start to learn to create Android apps? I don’t know any programming completely, but I’ve had some Java classes before. I’m not interested in games so much, but more so in productivity or informational apps (displaying information from an XML/JSON/etc feed in a nice way). I don’t want to start somewhere that’ll teach me bad habits or things irrelevant to Android. Thanks!

    Just curious

For those of you refreshing the page many times a day like me, what are you looking forward to the most.

For me, it’s the GV integration because I want to uninstall the official GV app and never see it again.

For me it’s this, and speed. GV is a horrible, horrible app that connects to such an amazing service. I’m hoping this app will do it the justice that it deserves.

Oh man I can’t wait to get my hands on this. Google voice is so damn slow and frustrating. I’m just hoping the UI is simple like the stock messaging app!

I’m so bummed I won’t be able to try out the beta. I’m leaving for navy boot camp this weekend, but hopefully it’ll be all nice and polished over the next few months. Being a strictly GV user for texting, I’ve been obsessively following this project.

Expect to receive some of that US taxpayer money from me, sir. You’re making a great product.
